Get Down, CAT!! · Last updated September 16, 2026 · Effective August 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CliffPoint Technologies LLC, doing business as MattyC Labs ("we", "us"), handles information in the mobile game Get Down, CAT!! (the "Game"). We built the Game to collect as little as possible. There are no ads, no third-party tracking or advertising SDKs, and no accounts or logins.
The short version
- We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or any other personal information.
- The Game is fully playable offline. It only uses the internet for two things: the optional global leaderboard, and in-app purchases (handled by Apple or Google).
- If you submit a score, we send just the 3-letter initials you type, your score, the wave you reached, your run time, and whether the run used paid boosts — nothing that identifies you.
- If you buy something, Apple or Google process the payment, not us. We never see your card, billing address, or store account details.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information for advertising.
What information the Game handles
1. Stored only on your device (never sent to us)
The Game saves a few things locally on your device so it remembers your progress and preferences. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Settings — sound and music volume, game speed, screen-rotation preference, and the accessibility options (text size, reduced motion, quality markers).
- Your cosmetic choices — which costumes, cat headgear and weapon looks you have equipped, which kitchen theme you're using, and which seasonal themes have opened on this device. These are display preferences and stay on your device.
- Local high scores — your top runs (initials + score + wave + time), all-time, on this device only. There are two of these boards: one for standard runs and one for runs that used paid boosts.
- Cat-A-Log progress — which cats, weapons, and items you've encountered, and whether you've seen the first-run tutorial.
- Your purchases — which in-app purchases you own (boosts and skin packs) and, for boosts, whether each is switched on. This is a local copy of what the app store told us, so your purchases keep working when the device is offline.
- Scores waiting to be sent — if you submit a score to the global leaderboard and it can't reach us (no signal, for example), the Game keeps that one run on your device and retries later. It holds at most the 25 most recent, and each holds only the fields listed in section 2.
Uninstalling the Game removes this local data. You can also clear the local high-score boards and reset your settings yourself from Settings → Data.
2. Sent only when you submit to the global leaderboard
The Game includes an optional global weekly leaderboard. When — and only when — you finish a run and tap Submit on the game-over screen, the Game sends the following to our leaderboard backend:
- The initials you type (up to 3 characters — you choose what to enter).
- Your score, the wave number you reached, and your run time.
- A mode tag recording whether the run used paid boosts, so boosted runs appear on their own board rather than the standard one.
- A week identifier (so the board can reset weekly) and a timestamp.
We do not collect any personal information alongside this. The initials are freeform text you choose; please don't enter anything that identifies you or anyone else.
If a submission can't get through, the Game saves that entry on your device and retries it the next time it's online — so a score you chose to submit may be sent a while after you tapped Submit. It still carries only the fields listed above, timestamped to when you actually played. Nothing is ever sent that you didn't submit.
To operate this leaderboard, the Game signs in to our backend using anonymous authentication, which issues a random, throwaway identifier for the connection. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, device contacts, or any personal account, and we do not use it to profile or track you.
3. In-app purchases
The Game is a paid app and also offers optional one-time in-app purchases. All payment handling is done by the app store — Apple's App Store or Google Play — under that store's own privacy policy. We never receive or store your payment details, billing address, or store account identity.
To show prices and to know what you already own, the Game asks the store two things: the localized price of each item, and which items this store account has already purchased. The answer to the second is a list of product identifiers; it contains no personal information, and we keep a copy on your device so your purchases still work offline. The same mechanism powers the Restore Purchases button.
4. Technical data
Because leaderboard submissions and app-store requests travel over the internet, our backend provider and the app stores may process standard technical connection data (such as an IP address) as part of delivering the request, in the same way any internet service does. We do not use this data to identify you, and we do not build advertising or tracking profiles from it.
Who else handles this data (third parties)
We use Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Anonymous Authentication) to store and serve the global leaderboard. When you submit a score, that data is processed and stored by Google on our behalf. Google's handling of data is governed by Google's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
For in-app purchases we use Apple's App Store (StoreKit) on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android. When you buy something, that store processes the transaction under its own privacy policy — Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ · Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy — and tells the Game only which items you own.
We do not integrate any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, social-login providers, or other third-party trackers.
Children's privacy
The Game is a silly, family-friendly arcade game and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because we collect no personal information and the only optional online feature is a freeform-initials leaderboard, the Game does not gather data that would identify a child. If you believe a child has submitted content you'd like removed from the leaderboard, contact us (below) and we will remove it.
Your choices
- Don't want anything to leave your device? Simply don't submit a score to the global leaderboard, and don't make an in-app purchase. Everything else in the Game runs fully offline.
- Want to clear what's stored locally? Settings → Data clears the local high-score boards or resets your settings; uninstalling removes the rest. Neither removes scores you already submitted to the global board — for those, see the next point.
- Want a leaderboard entry removed? Because entries carry no account, tell us the approximate details (initials, score, and roughly when) and we'll do our best to locate and remove it.
Data retention
- On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the Game.
- Leaderboard entries are retained on our backend; weekly-board entries naturally age out of the weekly view, and we may prune old entries over time.
- Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need them to look into your question or the problem and reply to you.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the Game handles data, we'll update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes (for example, adding analytics) will be reflected here before the changed version of the Game ships.
If you contact us
The Game has a Report a Bug button, and it does not send anything itself — it opens a pre-filled message in your own email app, with the attached technical details shown to you on screen first, and nothing leaves your device unless you send it yourself. If you do send it, or email us directly, we'll have your email address and whatever you chose to include. We use it only to reply to you about your question or the fix — nothing else.
