Playing the Game
What is Get Down, CAT!!?
It's a silly arcade game where cats keep trying to jump up and camp on your kitchen counters, and your job is to get them down. You walk over and slap them off, grab weapons and power-ups, and survive as many waves as you can. That's the whole beautiful, dumb premise.
How do I play?
Tap a cat to walk over and slap it off the counter. Tap an empty spot to just walk there. Your kitchen is wider than the screen, so swipe left/right to switch between the two halves and check what's happening on the other side. Collect the items cats drop and the between-round rewards to build up weapons and buffs.
Why can't I see the whole kitchen at once?
That's on purpose — it's the core of the game. The kitchen is too wide for one screen, so cats will land on counters you can't currently see. Deciding when to swipe over and check the other side is the tension. Keep an ear out and watch for the little tail sticking up at the screen edge — that's a cat causing trouble off-screen.
Does my progress save?
Your high scores, settings, Cat-A-Log discoveries, and any purchases are saved between sessions. Each run itself is a fresh survival attempt — the game is endless waves, and "wave reached" plus your score are how you measure a run.
Is there a tutorial?
Sort of — you play it. The first time you start a game, a short coached demo runs inside a real wave 1: it points at what to do next as it happens (tap a cat, grab the thing it dropped, equip it, use a power-up, swipe to the other half of the kitchen, place a counter trap) and slows time down so you can read. Nothing is faked and the run counts. You can skip it at any point.
Afterwards, the How to Play tab in the in-game Cat-A-Log covers the same ground in text, and has a Replay the Demo button if you want it again. The Cat-A-Log also explains every weapon, buff, and cat.
Cost & Purchases
How much does it cost?
Get Down, CAT!! is a one-time purchase — you pay once and own the game; the store shows the price before you buy. There are no ads and no subscriptions. There are optional in-app purchases, covered in the next answer.
Are there in-app purchases?
Yes, two kinds — both in the The Good Stuff screen inside the game, and both optional.
Boosts make the game easier. Being straight with you: they are not cosmetic, and that's the whole point of them. They do things like giving you a fourth counter to lose, a fifth item slot, permanent luck or speed, an extra reward card between waves, one free comeback when you lose a counter, or handing the walking-and-slapping over to AutoGranny so you can focus on items. Sold individually or as a bundle.
Skin packs are costumes — outfits for granny, hats for the cats, and new looks for weapons you already have. Mix and match across any packs you own. A skin changes only how something looks: a weapon wearing a skin is the same weapon, with the same damage, reach and speed.
Every purchase is one-time and permanent. No subscriptions, no ads, no consumable charges you burn through, no loot boxes, no in-game currency.
Do I have to buy any of it?
No. Buying nothing gets you the whole game as a game — every wave, weapon, item, cat, and leaderboard. No boost locks any of that away, and you can switch any boost you own off whenever you like, mid-run included.
The honest exception is artwork: the costumes in a skin pack are the one thing you only get by buying that pack. They change nothing about how the game plays — they just look good. The kitchen themes are free (see below).
Are the seasonal kitchens something I have to buy?
No — themes are free and come with the game. When a season opens, the kitchen dresses itself: what's outside the window, the lighting, and the decorations hanging around the room. Pick one from the Themes tab in The Good Stuff, or stay on the stock kitchen. Nothing there has a price on it. The paid skin packs are a separate thing — those are the costumes for granny, the cats, and the weapons.
Isn't that pay-to-win?
It would be, if boosted runs competed with everyone else's — so they don't. Any run that used a boost, even for a second, posts to its own separate BOOSTED leaderboard. The standard boards stay unboosted. If you own boosts and want a shot at the standard board, turn them all off and start a fresh run.
Skins are not part of that split, because they don't affect anything — a run wearing every costume in the game, with no boosts on, is a standard run and posts to the standard board like any other.
How do I restore my purchases on a new device?
Purchases are tied to your app-store account (Apple or Google), so sign in to the same one, reinstall, and open The Good Stuff — there's a Restore Purchases button right there. It brings back boosts and skin packs alike. Your store account handles the rest.
Privacy & Data
What information does the game collect?
As little as possible. There are no ads, no tracking, and no accounts or logins. The game is fully playable offline, and it only reaches the internet for two things you choose to do: submitting a score to the global leaderboard, and making an in-app purchase (which Apple or Google handle — we never see your payment details).
What gets sent when I submit a score?
Just the 3-letter initials you type, your score, the wave you reached, your run time, and a tag saying whether the run used boosts (so it lands on the right board). Nothing that identifies you. If it can't get through — no signal, say — the game keeps that one score on your device and retries later, rather than losing it. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up, login, email, or password anywhere in the game.
Is it safe for kids?
It's a family-friendly, cartoon cat game with no ads, no chat, and no personal information collected. The only text you can enter is your own 3-letter leaderboard initials. Do note it has optional in-app purchases, so if you're handing a device to a child, use your platform's purchase controls (Screen Time on iOS, parental controls on Google Play).
Leaderboards
How does the leaderboard work?
When you finish a run you can enter 3 initials and submit your score. There are five boards, and you flip between them on the fridge on the main menu:
- Local — your own best runs, all-time, saved on this device.
- Local Boosted — the same, for your runs that used paid boosts.
- This Week — the global weekly board. It resets Sunday at 11:59:59 PM Pacific time.
- All Time — the global board with no time limit.
- Boosted — the global weekly board for runs that used paid boosts, on the same reset.
Standard and boosted runs never share a board, so a boost can't push an unboosted player down the rankings.
Can I remove my leaderboard entry?
Yes — since entries are just initials and a score with no account attached, email us the initials, score, and roughly when you submitted, and we'll remove it. Contact details are below.
Technical & Support
What devices does it run on?
Phones and tablets on Android and iOS. It plays great in landscape, and shines on a larger tablet screen. Phones lock to landscape by default; if you'd rather they didn't, there's an Allow Rotation switch in Settings.
Are there accessibility options?
Settings has a text-size option (Normal / Large / Larger), a Reduced Motion switch that turns off decorative animation while leaving the warning cues alone, and Quality Pips, which marks item rarity with dots as well as colour, for colourblind players.
Can I change the game speed?
You can speed it up — Normal, Fast, or Faster — from Settings, or with the one-tap button next to pause, which is handy for blowing through the slow early waves. There's no slow-mo option: speeding up only shortens your own reaction window (it doesn't change difficulty), whereas slowing down would quietly make runs easier and muddy the leaderboards.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The entire game is playable offline, purchased boosts included — the game remembers what you own. Internet is only needed for the global leaderboard and for making or restoring a purchase.
I found a bug / have a suggestion. How do I reach you?
We'd love to hear it. There's a Report a Bug button in the game, under About — it opens a pre-filled message in your own email app with your device details attached, which you can read and edit before sending. Or just email the address below directly. It's a solo developer on the other end, so real humans (and cats) read it.
