Hi, I'm Matthew.

From the cockpit to coding

I served in the Navy for more than 25 years — seven as an enlisted sailor, and over eighteen as an officer and aviator. I loved it — the people, the experiences, the leadership. I'll never forget it.

I've also always loved programming, technology, and games. I've been gaming since the Atari, and I don't plan on stopping.

Finding what's next

After I retired, I spent a long time figuring out what came next. Cybersecurity and IT looked like the obvious answers, but a career in aviation doesn't hand you much hands-on computer experience. So I took some more time, found Android's own developer courses, and worked through the whole series. Somewhere along the way I remembered how much I love the challenge of programming.

Our Fam!

My wife and I were running family life across four to six different apps. They worked great, but I wanted a challenge: could I build one app that did all of it? We've used Our Fam! as a family for a long time now. It grew well past what I set out to build, end-to-end encryption included (because why not?), so I opened it up for other families too. I know there are other apps like it, but I wanted to try anyway.

Get Down, CAT!!

As a gamer, I've always wanted to make a game. Get Down, CAT!! is a simple one, but it's fun, and it makes my family giggle every time we play. I also can't stand games that show an ad every ten seconds, so it has none. That goes for everything I make: I'll do my best to keep ads out of my apps.

How it gets built

It's just me — design, code, support, and the occasional late night. AI tools help me learn faster and build more than one person otherwise could, but every app is designed and tested by me. Then it faces my toughest critics: every app is family-tested and family-approved before it ships.

Turns out I found what I want to do. I want to stay in the digital world and make things I'd use every day. MattyC Labs is the trade name of CliffPoint Technologies LLC, the business I started to do exactly that.
